Advertising for Popplewood 4-H 15th Annual Ringle Harvest Day

Needless to say - if you want people to support your event - you must advertise.  A friend of mine once told me, "it doesn't cost to advertise, it PAYS to advertise."   I appreciate all of the publications that I place these ads in - they usually give me some kind of a non-profit "break."  We invest all of the vendor monies into the costs of this event - including advertising.  Here a few pictures of some of our ads; City Pages (Wausau), Your Community Shopper (Wittenberg), Families First (north central Wisconsin) and Marathon County Buyer's Guide (and surrounding areas):

Thanks!

Advertising for Popplewood 15th Annual Ringle Harvest Day

It is always nice to have some FREE advertising.  Amy Ryan, at the Everest Herald, wrote an article about Fall Festivals.  Here is a link to that article. http://www.wausaudailyherald.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2011109160301

or here are a few pictures of the portion of the article that is about Ringle.

Thanks Everest Herald - and Amy - for supporting not only our event but others in our area!  We appreciate it!

Vendor Profile: Leona Davidowski - Leona's Country Kitchen

Leona Davidowski - Leona's Country Kitchen will be located next to the Popplewood 4-H food booth.   So, we call her Grandma Davidowski, we first met Leona when her grandson Dustin was in kindergarten with our daughter Justine.  They both are now 19.  A fond memory my kids have of Leona is that she use to have a rummage sale almost every year when they were little.  When you would stop at her sale - she would invite you in and feed you.  She makes REALLY good chicken soup - you know the old fashioned way, that only a Polish Grandma can make, homemade bread and butter and cookies.  Her "homestead" was on the corner of Club House and River Roads.  I use to pass her place twice a day every day in the school year taking my girls to Riverside Elementary.  Talk about a garden!  She use to have one of the best gardens (next to my Dad's) that I knew of - hours and hours of work - she would always wave from her garden as you drove bye.  Leona sells her homemade breads and canned goods.  She does this to raise money for local charities (Heart of Gold) last year it was the Wausau Women's Community.  Here is newspaper picture from last year.

Vendor Profile: D.C. Everest FFA

Some of the members of the D.C. Everest FFA are in our 4-H group.  So this year as their fundraiser, they wanted to set up at the Harvest Day and sell fall decor, like cornstalks.  They will be located under the flag next to the Popplewood 4-H food stand.

Vendor Profile: Virgil Wenzel

Virgil Wenzel will be in booth #27.  This booth is a farmers market booth and it is located right on Town Hall Road in the grassy portion across from town hall.  Virgil has beautiful apples.  In the past he has donated portions of his sales to the St. John's School.  So, if you want some great apples to "winter over" or bake pies with - check out Virgil's booth.

Vendor Profile: Dave and Arletta Kasen - Kasen Bittersweet Antiques

Dave and Arletta will be in booth #87.  This booth is on the corners of 1st Ave and Maple Street.  You can't miss it - they are the vendors with the camper turned into a mobile antique shop.  Dave and Arletta have been in business for MANY years.  They own and operate an antique shop on their farm in Wausau (off of KK on the "back" way to Mosinee).  Truthfully, they are part of my inspiration to have a shop when we bought this farm.  Arletta refinishes furniture beautifully.  They always have a variety of wood ware, tole ware, kitchen utensils, old advertising, furntiure and of course - pears from their tree.  I usually trade her their booth for pears.  I've canned them and in the winter when I eat them, I fondly think of Arletta and Dave.  They always have neat stuff!

Vendor Profile: Rhonda Schultz - Sissies Clippies

Rhonda Schultz or Sissies Clippies will be in booth #22.  This booth is on the black top parking lot of the Ringle town  hall.  I think you can guess what she will sell - hair clipies, etc.  This will be the only booth like this at the event.

Vendor Profile: Donna and Bob Mather

Donna and Bob Mather will be in booths #70 & 71.  These booths are located in the grass lot that runs along the Mountain Bay trail.  Bob and Donna have set up as vendors for probably 10 years or more.  This couple has my "funniest story" and memory of this event.  When we use to set up at our farm, the first year Donna and Bob set up, I noticed that they left their van door open while setting up.  I thought to myself, I sure hope a cat doesn't get in there and hide somewhere.  That is "Midnight" she is still going stong - a super mouser and we LOVE her.  However, Midnight, loves to make "nests" in my junk in the pole building.  I often find her sleeping in a box, snuggled up with an old blanket or whatever.  Anyway, I warned them....to check the van before they leave.   Well, the next morning, they returned to their booth and announced that Midnight had spent the night in town and the hotel.  Too funny, right????  Well the next year, I warned them again.....and this time they did check the van.  They left the van here at the farm and went to town in their car.  Well, the next morning, they opened up their van to find that Midnight had spent the night in there and left SEVERAL suprises for them....  You would think that this would have stopped them from ever setting up again - but, they are true "TROOPERS' and have been back every year.   Bob and Donna have a variety of VERY nice antiques to include furniture, lodge/cabin decor, primitives and farm tools.  I have bought many of my own personal favorite antiques from them.

Vendor Profile: Gary & Marie Kickbusch

Gary and Marie Kickbusch will be in booth #65.  This booth is in the grassy lot that runs along the Mountain Bay trail.  So, this is the booth I actually get the MOST questions of:  "where is that booth with those delicious pickles?"  This is the booth - Marie's mother makes Russian Dill pickles - which EVERYONE loves.  I can't tell you how many times throughout the year - when I am at different places - even the grocery store - and people will come up to me and ask...."is the lady who makes those pickles going to be there?"  So, this is the booth.  However, Gary and Marie have a wide variety of antiques and vintage items too.... :) .

Vendor Profile: Dan and Sue Janz

Dan and Sue Janz will be in booth #68.  This booth is located in the grassy field that runs along side the Mountain Bay trail.  Dan and Sue have been vendors since the beginning.  They have set up in sunny, rainy, snowy and windy conditions.  We (my girls and I) have so many wonderful memories of Sue and all of our barn kittens.  When the flea market was at our farm, the first thing Sue would do - after she set up their booth :), was go and pick out a barn kitten to hold and take care of all day.....she loved them.  They actually took one of them home as a pet.  I have known Dan since I think 1988 or 1989.  He was the first "flea" friend I made.  I use to see him at all the rummages and auctions and finally one day went up to him and said "hey, who are you?"  The rest is history....  Dan and Sue always have a neat variety of collectible and vintage items.  ALL of which are reasonably priced - so don't think about it and come back later.....it will be gone.  I've done this .....   I LOVE you guys!

We couldn't set up this event if we didn't have awesome helpers.  Here is Alan Luetschwager, a 4-H dad, using his brush hog to mow down the extra areas that we need to put vendors and the petting zoo.

He will mow again one more time before October 8th.  Thanks again!

Registration & Vendor Information

This year I only have 97 booths.  I will be sending out the contracts to previous vendors first.  I will be making a list of those new vendors to be added once I find out how many booths are left.  There is NOT ANY OPEN spots that day to "just show up and sell."  We are not allowed to block certain streets and space is LIMITED.  So....if you want information, leave a comment or call me, Jacky @ (715) 446-2618.  Booths are $20 each - 10' x 40' or 20' x 20' - I will try to do my best to accomodate old and new vendors.

Blessings from Ringle.
